Shark Tooth Scout is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Use the Download on the App Store button for the official listing. Android is currently in testing and is not yet publicly available on Google Play; invited testers receive a separate opt-in link.

The $4.99 USD one-time Scout Pro purchase unlocks unlimited guided comparisons, all 37 comparative profiles, and unlimited saved field records. There is no subscription and no advertising. The App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android shows the final localized price before purchase.

Use Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account that purchased Scout Pro on iOS, or the Google account that purchased it on Android. An internet connection and the applicable store must be available. Purchases restore within the same platform; Apple purchases do not unlock Google Play purchases or vice versa. Restoring Pro does not restore your locally stored field records.

No. On-device photo assessment estimates an outline and visible geometry; those estimates can be wrong, especially with clutter, shadows, damage, or poor contrast. Confirm field traits such as serrations, root form, cusplets, size, curve, and surface appearance. Scout compares those traits across reference profiles; it is not a validated species-recognition model or a guarantee of identification.

Evidence fit shows how closely the traits you recorded align with a comparative profile. It is not the statistical probability that a species is correct. Tooth position, wear, breakage, local geology, and overlap between related sharks can change what a single tooth looks like.

Some isolated teeth—especially among requiem sharks—overlap too strongly for a defensible species-level identification. Scout reports conservatively when exact measurements, jaw position, locality, or additional references would be needed.

With permission, Scout uses a foreground location reading to match nearby stations from its bundled NOAA catalog. It requests high and low predictions for the selected station from NOAA: a four-day forecast on iOS or a 72-hour window starting at the current UTC date on Android. The app displays upcoming events and a suggested low-tide hunting window. Predictions and cached forecasts are planning aids, not live water measurements, navigation guidance, or safety alerts.

NOAA CO-OPS predictions primarily cover U.S. coastal stations. Location permission, station distance, network access, or temporary NOAA availability can affect results. Scout may show the most recently saved forecast when the live service cannot be reached.

Records and their saved photos stay in local app storage. Goodale Studios does not operate an account or cloud service for Scout and cannot recover deleted or lost records. Android cloud backups and device transfer are disabled. Share reports you want to keep before uninstalling, clearing storage, or changing Android devices; reports are exports, not restorable app backups.

Open a record from Finds and use its delete action. To remove everything on iOS, use Delete All Field Records in Scout Settings. On Android, clear the app’s storage in Android Settings or uninstall the app. These actions remove local records and photos and cannot be undone through Scout; export anything you want to keep first.
