Public Beach Finder is currently focused on saltwater beaches in the United States with documented public access. It launches with a verified starter catalog and will expand coast by coast as records are sourced and checked.
Does the catalog include every U.S. saltwater beach yet?
Not yet. Nationwide coverage requires combining records from federal, state, county, and municipal agencies and checking public access, coordinates, rules, and official sources. The app is built to receive new and corrected records over time without waiting for a full app update.
Where does beach information come from?
Each beach record identifies a managing authority and links to an official agency or other authoritative source. NOAA and the National Weather Service provide live coastal conditions. Because local details change, always review the linked official source before a trip.
How do tides and weather work?
The app matches supported beaches to NOAA tide stations and requests forecast and alert data for the selected beach from NOAA and the National Weather Service. Coverage depends on station availability, agency service availability, and the beach record.
Why can hours or dog rules change?
Beach hours, swimming areas, parking, lifeguards, dog seasons, wildlife closures, storm access, and fees can change quickly. Public Beach Finder summarizes the last verified catalog record and provides the official source so you can confirm current rules before leaving.
Are the ratings user reviews?
Ratings displayed in the current catalog are informational catalog values and should not be treated as verified Goodale Studios user reviews. The rating model and source labeling will continue to improve before public release.
Does the app use my location?
The current build does not request your device location. You can browse the map and open directions to a selected beach in Apple Maps without sharing a device location with Goodale Studios.
Where are my favorites stored?
Favorite beach identifiers stay in local device storage. No account is required, and Goodale Studios does not currently receive or sync your favorite list.
How can I report incorrect or missing information?
Email support with the beach name, state, the field that needs attention, and a link to the managing agency's current page. Do not send private access information or personal location history.
What should I include in a support request?
Include your iPhone or iPad model, iOS or iPadOS version, Public Beach Finder version, the screen involved, and the steps immediately before the problem. A screenshot is helpful when it does not reveal information you prefer to keep private.
