This policy is specific to Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook
This Privacy Policy applies to Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook for iPhone, iPad, and Android, including the Android closed-test release, and to this app’s pages on goodalestudios.com. The Android package is com.goodalestudios.hvacfieldbook. Other Goodale Studios apps have separate privacy policies.
Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook does not require an account, does not contain advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking, and does not send your company, customer, project, functional-test, measurement, note, or calculation records to a Goodale Studios server.
Privacy at a glance
Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook is an offline-first field tool. App records are stored locally on your device and leave the app only when you choose to share an export, open an external link, or contact support.
- No Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook account or login.
- No Goodale Studios cloud database for app records.
- No advertising, behavioral analytics, data brokers, or cross-app tracking.
- No access to Contacts, Location, Photos, Camera, Microphone, Bluetooth, or Health data in the current release.
- The Android app has no Internet permission and does not request an advertising ID or broad storage access. Import reads only the document you select through Android’s file picker.
- User-controlled reports, shared calculation text, and workspace-backup files; no automatic upload of project records.
Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use the app, Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook can store appearance and unit preferences; favorite and recent tools; field notes; saved calculation inputs and results; company identity and contact details; and project numbers, customer and site information, areas, systems, equipment, functional-test procedures, prerequisites, expected and observed responses, results, technicians, witnesses, timestamps, test points, phased readings, tolerances, deficiencies, corrective actions, instrument and calibration records, checklist state, approval details, and local signature data.
This information is used to provide the app’s local features. Goodale Studios cannot view, retrieve, correct, synchronize, or remotely delete these records because they are not sent to a Goodale Studios server.
Calculations and reports
Values entered into calculators and project test points are processed on your device. Saving a result places it in local calculation history and, when you choose an active project, can link it to that local project record.
PDF reports, CSV data, and workspace-backup files—including any functional-test, witness, measurement, deficiency, instrument, approval, and signature details they contain—are generated locally. Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook does not automatically upload or send them. On iPhone and iPad, exports use Apple’s sharing controls. On Android, you choose a recipient or destination through Android’s sharing or document controls; workspace backups use JSON. The email, messaging, storage, or other service you select receives that copy under its own privacy practices. Goodale Studios does not receive a copy unless you deliberately send it to us.
Website access, external links, and support
Opening a website, support, terms, Apple App Store, or Google Play link launches an external app or browser, where the destination’s privacy practices apply. Apple and Google separately process store purchases, downloads, and account information under their own policies; Goodale Studios does not receive your payment-card details through this app.
The Goodale Studios website host may process routine technical request data, such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp, to deliver and secure the website. This website activity is separate from locally stored Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook records.
These website pages also include Vercel Web Analytics for traffic measurement when enabled for the production site. This can process page views, referrers, general device and browser information, coarse region, and fixed product or page event labels. It does not read your locally stored app records. Website measurement is separate from the iOS and Android apps, which do not include analytics SDKs.
If you choose to use the website’s Studio Guide chat, the messages needed for that conversation are sent to Goodale Studios and the OpenAI API to generate a response. The chat is a website feature, not part of the HVAC app, and cannot read your app records. Do not paste customer information, signatures, job reports, passwords, or other confidential material into it. Chat text is held in the current browser page rather than a Goodale Studios chat database; resetting or closing the page clears that local conversation. The browser retains a privacy-reminder acknowledgment flag, and service providers may retain operational records under their own policies.
If you email support, Goodale Studios receives your email address and anything you choose to include. This information is used to answer the request, investigate problems, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Do not send customer details, site addresses, company-confidential material, or complete job reports unless necessary; redact identifying information when possible.
Retention, deletion, and backups
Local records remain until you delete the applicable item, clear supported history or app storage, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app’s local records from that device. On Android, automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled by the app. Use Settings → Export Workspace Backup and keep the exported file securely before changing devices or uninstalling. Import & Merge Backup reads a compatible Android workspace backup you choose; it does not connect to a Goodale Studios server.
On iPhone and iPad, copies in an Apple device backup remain subject to your Apple backup settings. On every platform, reports, backups, and other copies previously exported or shared remain at their chosen destinations and must be deleted there separately. Android and Apple app-backup formats are not interchangeable.
Support emails may be retained as reasonably necessary to answer requests, maintain support records, protect against misuse, and meet legal obligations. Website technical logs follow the hosting provider’s operational and security practices.
Security
Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook stores records in the platform’s private app storage and relies on the operating system’s app sandbox and device protections. No storage method is perfectly secure. Use a secure device lock, keep Android, iOS, or iPadOS current, protect exported backups, avoid storing unnecessary sensitive information, and review reports before sharing them.
Children’s privacy
Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook is a professional field utility and is not designed to solicit personal information from children. It has no account, public profile, advertising, or social features. Contact Goodale Studios if you believe a child sent personal information to support.
Your choices
Because Goodale Studios does not possess your locally stored app records, support cannot retrieve, export, or remotely erase them for you.
- Edit or delete supported project, functional-test, note, measurement, deficiency, instrument, and calculation records in the app.
- Cancel the system share sheet or document picker without sending or importing a file.
- Clear Android app storage or uninstall the app to remove local records; preserve any needed workspace backup first. Apple device-backup copies and files exported on either platform require separate management.
- Ask us to review or delete a support message by emailing support@goodalestudios.com, subject to records we must retain for security or legal reasons.
No sale, tracking, or advertising
Goodale Studios does not sell Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook app data, share it for cross-app behavioral advertising, or use it to track you across apps or websites. The Apple app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, and the Android app does not request an advertising ID. Neither app includes advertising or an analytics SDK.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook features or legal obligations change. The page will show a revised effective date. The in-app policy, App Store privacy information, and Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated as applicable before a release that materially changes data handling.
