No. The current release has no Goodale’s HVAC Fieldbook account or login, and functional tests, calculators, projects, measurements, deficiencies, instruments, notes, history, backups, and report generation work offline. Internet access is needed only when you choose to open an external web page or send content through another service.

Records are stored in the app’s private local storage, not a Goodale Studios cloud service. On Android, automatic cloud and device-transfer backups are disabled: use Settings → Export Workspace Backup, save the JSON file securely, and use Settings → Import & Merge Backup to select a compatible Android backup. Import merges records; it is not cloud synchronization. On iPhone and iPad, Apple device backups may include app data depending on your settings, and an app-generated backup is available in Settings. Android and Apple backup formats are not interchangeable.

From a fresh installation, open Projects → Load Sample Project, then open the sample project. It contains fictional commissioning records for exploring functional tests, measurements, deficiencies, readiness, sign-off, and report exports. No account, access code, or downloaded customer project is required. Sample records are editable demonstrations, not certification of a real installation. Normal closeout requirements still apply.

Open a commissioning project and add a functional test from the AHU, VAV, hydronic pump, or custom template. Confirm each prerequisite, then record the commanded condition, expected response, actual observed response, result, technician, witness, notes, and timestamp for each step. Required incomplete, failed, or blocked work will hold closeout.

Create or open a project, make it active, run the calculator, then choose Save to Project. Select the relevant system, equipment, test point, instrument, and notes where applicable. The complete inputs, formula, result, units, and timestamp remain linked to the project.

Open Projects, choose a project, review its functional tests, systems, readings, deficiencies, instruments, sign-off, notes, and linked calculations, then use the report export. Select PDF for a print-ready closeout package or CSV for analysis and record transfer.

There is no developer-operated recovery service. On Android, clearing storage or uninstalling removes local records, and automatic device backup is disabled. Recovery requires a compatible workspace backup you previously exported; a PDF or CSV report is not a full workspace backup. Use Settings → Import & Merge Backup to select that JSON file. On iPhone and iPad, use a compatible app backup or an Apple device backup containing the records where available. Review deletion confirmations and preserve important work before removing data.

Android access is limited to eligible testers while the closed release is under review or in testing; this is not a public launch. Once Google makes the test available, join the designated tester group and opt in using the same Google account you use in Play. The Android app is a paid, one-time download, not a subscription. An invitation or testing-provider membership does not itself waive the price. A valid Google Play promotional code can cover the purchase when one is issued to you. Do not pay a second time to troubleshoot access; email support with the exact Play message, without sending account passwords or unused codes.

No. The app provides calculation and documentation tools using common field relationships and user-entered values. Verify results against project documents, instrument requirements, manufacturer data, applicable codes and standards, and qualified professional judgment before acting on them.

Check the selected calculation mode, signs, units, decimal placement, specific gravity or density assumptions, instrument zero, measurement location, and whether the entered value represents gauge, absolute, static, velocity, or differential pressure. Send a redacted example and the formula screen name if the issue continues.

No. Measurements are entered manually in the current release. The app does not request Bluetooth access or connect to instruments.

Email support with the tool name, every input and unit, the displayed result, the result you expected, and the reference or calculation method used for comparison. Do not include identifying customer or site information unless necessary.
